Drone Based Surveillance system to protect forest reserves

With latest technology the best way to protect the forest reserves from unauthorized intrusion, timber smuggling, land acquisition, deforestation etc is to deploy an automatic surveillance system using drones.

In this proposed system

1. For each isolate forest reserve there a one or more drones deployed.

2. The drone(s) are programmed with the geometrical data of the particular forest reserve and do petrol through the perimeter and a random route through the forest at a random time of the day.

3. The drone is re-charged and rested in a designated tower. And this tower has a small solar panel (with or without a battery) for charging the drone.

4. If any human intrusion is detected the drone will immediately send the photos and message to designated center (Forest conservation department, SL Army etc).

5. The drone records a video in every petrol and upon returning to docking station the video is transferred to the system for analysis and reporting. Comparison of the video with previous day(s) video can detect any deforestation etc.

6. Most probably we can discuss with telecommunication companies to get an space in their towers to dock the drones.

7. There are universities and research organizations already familiar with drone technologies. We can get help from them.

8. Once a working prototype is deployed we can get support from SL government and Army.
